Abschiedssymphonie -
(farewell sympathy)
__________From: When I knew Dorsey in Germany, he was a Staff Sgt. and a career airman.....I
never knew what his rank was when he finally retired. But I'm sure it was much higher......Dorsey was a "by the book"
soldier in the best possible way.....and all the years I knew him in Germany, he was faithful to his wife, Darlene.......I
admired him for that. Ole' Deacon Dorsey had cancer in his mouth....As far as I know, he never smoked or drank....He had it in remission
for awhile a few years ago, but it came back....Last time I talked with him on the phone he complained about the Chemo making
his hair fall out.....But he knew he could beat it again......The Chemo did one more thing......It made Dorsey's heart tired
and last Monday, his tired heart quit working.........So...I guess he did beat the cancer.....in a way....I'll miss his jokes,
I'll miss his jabs at my girth ( I never got the chance to tell him how skinny I am now). But mostly, I'll miss
Dorsey.......No jokes about that......dick _______________________________________________________
Sorry to bring you this sad news.........Frank
Davis called me and told me that he tried to call Dorsey today and his wife told him that
Dorsey had died last Monday, June 15, 2009....The funeral was Wednesday.....Please put the word out to the rest of the "crew"
and send a prayer his way.... Darlene did say that the Chemo had worn
him out and that his heart just gave out.....Frank also mentioned that Darlene is taking it pretty hard living in an "empty"
house and broke down several times while speaking.....Let your conscience be your guide.......dick We will always remember The
Deacon. Our brother in arms-601st ACWsq-Rothwesten, Germany The Deacon will always be remembered. He's in GOD's hands now. CMS Nick
Mascis, USAF, (Ret.)
